At 8.67 metres, the Crooze EZ 28 measures a fraction over the 8.53 m line that divides this catalogue from the yacht network next door, which is why it is the one model listed on both. It belongs in the day-boat conversation regardless of the tape measure: this is a boat you load in the morning and rinse down at dusk, not one you sleep aboard.

One hull, six kinds of day

Crooze builds the EZ 28 around six named scenarios — Commuting, Fishing, Water sports, Party, Picnic and Beach — and the hull reconfigures to suit whichever one the day calls for. That flexibility is the boat's core idea. A smaller runabout tends to be one thing done well; the EZ 28 is pitched at owners who want Saturday's fishing trip and Sunday's family picnic from the same berth.

Space is the argument

The layout leans hard into long days with company: room for twelve aboard, and the fit-out to keep them comfortable: topsides that fold away to open the deck into 17 square metres of usable space, a bar with a built-in grill, a shower and a toilet on board, and a stern arranged as a proper lounging beach. Among the 88 sub-8.53 m models on this network, that scale of on-board amenity is what buying above the line gets you — the smaller boats in this catalogue simply don't have the deck to attempt it.

Motor, speed and range — the full curve

The standard motor is 207 kW, with a 270 kW option for those who want more push, drawing on a 140 kWh pack of which 130 kWh is usable — among the largest batteries under nine metres. And Crooze publishes a genuine range curve rather than one flattering number: near 120 nautical miles held to a gentle 5 knots, around 30 nm at the 12-knot cruise the hull was engineered for, and 15–16 nm flat out at 30 knots. Anchor on the 12-knot figure — that is where the running surfaces are optimised, and where a real day on the water actually happens.

A spec sheet with nothing missing

Crooze has confirmed the battery — 140 kWh gross, 130 kWh usable — closing the one gap this listing used to carry. Our rule across both networks is that a missing figure beats a plausible one; better still is a builder who publishes the real one, including the middle of the range curve, which almost nobody in the class discloses.

Who buys it

The natural buyer is someone whose boating is social — family days, guests, swimming stops — and who has outgrown a runabout's cockpit without wanting a yacht's commitments.
